Description
In Greek religion, god of war or, more properly, the spirit of battle, he represented the distasteful aspects of brutal warfare and slaughter. Son of the chief god, Zeus, and Hera, his consort, Ares was one of the Olympian deities; his fellow gods and even his parents, however, were not fond of him. Nonetheless, he was accompanied in battle, by his sister Eris and his sons (by Aphrodite) Phobos and Deimos.

Strangely, I'm happy with this work. I know that technically it could be much better, but I'm glad for the way the symbolism turned out. I had done a whole different version of Ares but I hated it and last night I got a new idea for it.. with the chess board.. I think it's representative of war, as well as the other elements in the picture. Anyways.. not entirely happy with the duotone, you may see a coloured version of this here: [link]
